STANDINGS/PLAYOFF INFO [UPDATED 9-4]

Checking in on the Astros minor league teams as they work to find postseason glory ...

Fresno was eliminated from the postseason on Thursday after getting swept by El Paso. They play their final game of the season at 1:05 CST in Salt Lake.

Corpus Christi's double-header sweep of San Antonio last night was HUGE!! Going into the final game today, the Hooks still have a chance at the postseason, BUT everything has to go right for them. If the Hooks win against San Antonio at home and Midland loses on the road at Frisco, the Hooks will advance to the playoffs. They are currently tied with Midland, but since Midland owns the season series, that team will advance if both teams win or both teams lose. Both games start at 4:05 CST and Akeem Bostick will take the mound for the Hooks.

Buies Creek lost to Down East on Saturday and they now maintain only a half game lead in the second half standings over that team. Today's game at 10:00 CST will either be the Astros final game of the season or their ticket to the playoffs. Abdiel Saldana will toe the rubber for the Astros.

Quad Cities is limping into postseason play, having lost their sixth game in a row on Saturday. Nathan Thompson will face one-time Astro farmhand Adrian Houser, who is currently rehabbing with the Brewers Low A affiliate, for their final regular season outing. The postseason starts with Game 1 on the road against Peoria on Wednesday. The Bandits will then return to Quad Cities on Thursday and Friday (if necessary) for the three-game series.

Tri-City has now officially been eliminated from the postseason. They will finish their season on Thursday. Sunday's game was rained out.

Greeneville (33-34) won a playoff berth on the final day of the season. The first game of their three-game series against Elizabethton (41-27) was pushed back to Sunday due to bad weather. Greeneville prevailed 3-2 at home on Sunday and will head to Elizabethton today to continue the best of three series. Roman Garcia (3-for-4 2B R), Frankeny Fernandez (2-for-3 HR 2RBI R) and Wilson Amador (2-for-3 2B R) provided the bulk of the offense, with Juan Pineda contributing an RBI triple that was the difference maker. Pitching for Greeneville were Jairo Solis (4.0IP 3H 1R), Humberto Castellanos (3.0IP 3H 0R) and Tim Hardy (BS W 2.0IP 2H 1R). Tonight's game is schedule for 6:00 CST with Chad Donato pitching for the Astros.

The GCL finished their season on Saturday with a win that gave them a .500 season. The DSL teams ended their seasons on 8/26.
